Agent Builder

The flexible platform to create Conversational Voice AI Agents.

A lot of business calls start with something straightforward. A customer needs an update, an employee needs help, or a prospect wants to know whether your service is right for them.

Voice Agent Builder from Bandwidth Labs gives developers and teams a place to build and test AI voice agents around those tasks. You define the agent’s role, give it instructions, choose supported providers, and connect the business tools it needs.

The basic flow is listen → understand → act → reply.

In a typical setup, speech recognition turns the caller’s words into text. An AI model uses the conversation, your instructions, and relevant business information to generate a response or request an action through a connected tool. Text-to-speech then turns that response into spoken audio.

Imagine a customer calling because they can’t access their account. A configured agent could ask what happened, collect the relevant details, and create a ticket through your connected support system. Your support team would then have the context needed to follow up.

That’s one example. Our template library includes 20 editable starting points to help you explore what could work for your business:

  • Customer support: Retailers, online stores, and software companies could answer product questions, check order information, collect return requests, and prepare issues for escalation.
  • Lead qualification: B2B services, agencies, and real estate businesses could understand a prospect’s needs, gather qualification details, and capture useful context for sales.
  • Sales development: Sales teams could guide initial discovery conversations, explore a prospect’s goals, and prepare a summary for follow-up.
  • Fraud assistance: Financial services and telecom teams could help callers report suspected fraud, gather non-sensitive details, and direct urgent concerns to the appropriate team.
  • HR onboarding: People teams could guide new employees through common questions about company policies, their first week, and where to find help.
  • IT support: Internal help desks and technology providers could collect details about an issue, explain approved troubleshooting steps, and create a support request through a connected system.
  • Healthcare intake: Clinics and practices could support administrative intake and help callers reach the right staff.

The templates are starting points you can adapt. Actions such as checking an order or creating a ticket still require a connection to the relevant system and the right permissions.

You can choose from supported telephony, model, and voice providers, connect business tools through MCP, and test how your agent responds. Start with one task, try realistic conversations, review the results, and refine it from there.

Agent Builder is in beta, with more to come. We’re actively shipping new features, integrations, and improvements based on what builders like you need. If you have an idea for a voice agent, whether it’s taking restaurant orders, booking appointments, or answering customer questions, you can create a free account in our voice agent builder in just a few minutes and start building right away. No credit card, no complex setup. Just bring your idea, and we’ll help you bring it to life.
